September 18 – Smithsonian Museum Day. Spread the word to your friends and neighbors that admission is ‘free’ to our museum on this date if you download a ticket from the Smithsonian site. Of course, visitation is always free to our members.
November 6 – African American History in Mount Dora. Author Vivian Owens who wrote The Mount Dorans: African American History Notes of a Florida Town book will speak at the Martin Luther King Center at 2 pm.
November 15 – Women’s Club Luncheon. Board member Barnett Schwartzman will speak at the CC Mount Dora’s Women’s Club luncheon from 11:30 to 1 pm. If you’re a member of this club, come out and hear Barnett speak.
November 20 at 10:00 am – Historic Home Architecture & Tour. Shelby Eldridge, Historic Preservation Planner with the City of Mount Dora will speak on the different types of home architecture that can be found in our local historic district neighborhoods. A guided or individual walking tour of some of the historic homes will follow her presentation. Participants are asked to gather in the sculpture garden of the Mount Dora Community Building.
